Why cash and gas are separate in a copy wallet

Maya World editorial2 min read

In brief

Trading cash pays for assets; native gas pays for network activity. A stablecoin balance alone does not make a network ready.

Cash buys the token; native gas pays the network

USDC is trading cash on Solana and several Maya EVM networks. The blockchain still charges its native transaction fee: SOL on Solana, ETH on Base and Ethereum, and BNB on BNB Chain. Robinhood Chain uses USDG for trading cash and ETH for gas.

Having $100 of USDC does not give an ordinary wallet permission to pay a native fee in USDC. Another service can sponsor a transaction or arrange a conversion, but that is an additional execution path. Maya does not currently offer sponsored or USDC-paid gas.

What a funded trading wallet needs

The minimum copied buy is currently $10. Keep enough supported cash for the buys you intend to allow and a native gas reserve on the same network. The funding review shows current balances and the checks for the selected chain.

The one-buy gas checks are 0.01 SOL on Solana, 0.0003 ETH on Base, 0.003 ETH on Ethereum, 0.002 BNB on BNB Chain and 0.0003 ETH on Robinhood Chain. These are product readiness checks, not promises that each trade costs that much. Actual network fees vary.

Why automatic top-up still needs a starting reserve

Converting cash to native gas is itself a transaction, so the wallet needs a little initial gas to start. Gas reserve settings distinguish the trigger balance from the extra amount to buy. Read both amounts before saving.

For example, triggering below 0.01 ETH and buying 0.01 more ETH means an existing 0.005 ETH can become roughly 0.015 ETH before transaction costs, if cash and the current limits allow the purchase. Older saved final-balance rules can behave differently until explicitly edited. Check your saved settings rather than assuming every account uses the same reserve rule.

What to do when an entry is skipped for funds

Read which chain and which asset are missing. If cash is short, add that chain’s supported trading cash. If gas is short, add its native coin. Cash or gas on another chain does not satisfy either check.

After the transfer confirms, refresh your funds and review the next eligible signal. The missed buy is not replayed automatically. Maya's Swap flow offers quotes and explicit confirmation for supported conversions; a displayed wallet total alone is not a conversion or an automatically available gas reserve.
