Does saving a copy buy the trader's existing tokens
In brief
A saved copy waits for eligible new activity; it does not automatically reconstruct the leader's current portfolio.
A saved copy starts with new eligible activity
Saving a trader creates rules for future eligible signals. It does not purchase a snapshot of every token the trader already owns. Their portfolio can contain older entries at prices you cannot obtain today, positions they have partly sold and tokens that fail your chosen entry filters.
If you see a token in the leader’s portfolio but no matching position in yours, first check when the leader bought it. A holding that predates your copy is not evidence that Maya missed a new buy.
Example: the trader already holds three coins
Suppose a trader owns A, B and C before you start following. Saving a $10 copy does not create three $10 purchases. If the trader later buys D, that new activity can be evaluated using your selected chain, funds, permission and entry rules.
A later addition to A is a new transaction, but the entry policy can exclude it. First buy only blocks additions. First buy + additions requires your successful copy of the observed first entry before additions to that open lot can qualify; Any fresh buy can allow new activity in an existing token. These policies use the observed 30-day history and still apply your budgets and buy limits.
What to inspect if the copy stays quiet
Open Terminal and look for the leader’s new activity in the Order feed. A skipped entry should have a reason, such as insufficient funds, an entry protection or a route issue. A saved copy, an observed signal and a filled trade are three different states.
Check that the wallet and network you selected match the activity you are watching. A Solana buy cannot be followed using only Base cash. Refresh your own funds and permissions if those are in doubt; do not repeatedly save duplicate copies.
Why this matters when comparing results
The trader’s historical profit can include coins bought long before you followed them. Your result starts with the trades your account actually executes. Comparing your first day with their all-time portfolio mixes different entries, sizes, costs and holding periods.
Review a complete entry and exit in your account before increasing the budget. If you choose to buy an older holding manually elsewhere, that is a separate decision at a new price, not a replay of the trader’s original entry.
Your next step
Put the guide into practice.
Review the setup in Maya. Check your mode, wallet and rules before starting.
